Hey Schmoeville!
Last week, some rumors started surfacing that Avengers 3 could be split into two films. Now, the rumors actually kind of annoyed me Schmoeville, I won’t lie. Really, there’s no reason for it to be split into two parts rather than just calling it Avengers 3 and Avengers 4, instead of Avengers 3: Part One and Avengers 3: Part Two. The only real possible reason that I could think of Marvel actually splitting the third Avengers film into two parts is for legal and contract reasons, but even that is just a shot into the dark.
However, according to a new report by Badass Digest, apparently Marvel may not be splitting the third film into two parts, but will be using Avengers 3 to springboard into something much more massive. According to the report, Marvel may be planning on leaving some of the key members of the team out of Avengers 3, like Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, and maybe even Hulk (who the report suggests may not even be on Earth anymore at this point in the Cinematic Universe). The report suggests that the heroes may still be dealing with the fallout of the third installments of their solo franchises, or on missions to save the world on their own instead of dealing with more Avengers situations. Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man will absolutely be appearing in the film due to his contract specifying Avengers 3 as his next film though. However, the report suggests that the film will feature some of Marvel’s more secondary characters in this film rather than the main and big characters we’ve seen the most of.
Listen, Marvel proved this year with Guardians of the Galaxy that the brand is what brings in audiences now and not just individual and well-known heroes. So Badass believes that Avengers 3 will feature mostly secondary heroes in the film like possibly Doctor Strange, Ms. Marvel, the Guardians, or Ant-Man as the main focus of the film with RDJ’s Iron Man there to help transition the idea of the Avengers being composed of different heroes and members. Then the next year, Avengers 3 will have led to something huge. Some kind of huge franchise crossover with all of the Marvel screen characters, both film and TV, coming to a head and meeting in this film. Why? Because the report mentions that Avengers 3 may not be the end of the Thanos storyline, but merely just the “spark” that slowly burns until the explosion in the next film.
This makes a ton of sense Schmoeville. A lot of the actors’ contracts are nearing their end with Chris Evans only having two more films left on his contract, one of which being Captain America 3, and Chris Hemsworth’s contract heading into it’s home stretch as well. So it makes a ton of sense that Marvel may want to save some of these characters for something much bigger instead of just the third film in the Avengers franchise, but instead an all-encompassing franchise crossover with every major and supporting character from the Marvel TV and Cinematic Universes. What this mystery crossover will be called? We don’t know and probably won’t for a while. There has been rumors of it being just called Marvel’s Infinity Gauntlet or Avengers: Secret Wars, but all of this is just speculation.
Now, this is just a rumor Schmoeville and may not end up being true… no matter how awesome it is! Badass does seem to have a pretty good track record with their rumors and scoops though Schmoeville, so I also wouldn’t be surprised if it does end up being true…. and honestly, I would be more than happy if it is. This. Sounds. Awesome.
