Hey Schmoeville!

Let’s face it, everyone wants to be in Star Wars. Why wouldn’t you want to be, I mean… it’s Star Wars!!!! Everyone seems to be throwing their hat into the ring for the future installments. With Rian Johnson set to write and direct both Episode 8 and Episode 9, you gotta wonder if the director/writer is already thinking of actors he might want in the film or people he might want to collaborate with on the project. I mean we all are, so who knows! Maybe Johnson is too.

And today, it looks like he has yet another volunteer! In a recent interview with the folks over at Collider, Mark Ruffalo talked about his eagerness to want to work with Johnson on one of the future installments. Check out the portion of the interview below!

When talking about the film Brothers Bloom:

“I just reached out to Rian recently, by the way.”

When asked if he wants to work on a Star Wars movie:

“Desperately.  My e-mail to Rian after all these years was, “Rian, congratulations on everything you’ve been doing.  And by the way, if there’s a part in Star Wars, please, anything, please consider considering me to join you.”

When asked if he would be interested in any kind of role, even if he is in one scene wearing a mask:

“Possibly, depending on timing.  I love hanging out with Rian so that’s interesting to me but I would like a role.”

When talking about how he has established himself now as an actor with enough “street cred” to get a role:

“I hope so!  It’d be nice to have something.  And honestly, even a CGI role.”

On the possibility of doing a mo-cap role:

“I am thrilled about motion capture.  It’s been a journey for me to get there.  After this last Avengers and the work we’re doing with that, and the advancement of the technology even since the first Avengers, I’m so excited about where we can go with motion capture.  I hope that I’m on the front line of this kind of new frontier of creativity and performance that is completely boundless.  Definitely be interested in doing something like that for Star Wars.”

See? Everyone wants in. Now, I’m not completely sure how I feel about Ruffalo being in a Star Wars film because I don’t know if he’s the caliber of actor where he would distract me if I saw him in one of the films. I’m a huge fan of Ruffalo as an actor and think he’s fantastic, but I also wonder if seeing him would make me go “Hey, there’s the Hulk!” while watching the film.

I’d definitely be interested in seeing him do a mo-cap role though especially with how much he’s been working with Andy Serkis on the craft! Something tells me he could do a lot with a role like that. Either way, this is a good move for Ruffalo to make as it puts his name in the ring now for any of the future installments. It will be interesting to see how this pans out and if we will in fact see the Hulk in a future Star Wars film or not.

So what do YOU think Schmoeville? Would you be excited for this casting? Do you want Ruffalo to appear in the Star Wars Universe? Do you not? Drop some comments down below, share with your friends, and let’s talk STAR WARS!
